An Unexpected Gift- By Nayt Snyder

Q12: What is an exciting or horrifying or sad or funny part of what you have read?
The story was about death who goes and visits a family at christmas and they are opening presents, than the little boy of the family can see death and asked him questions like How come you didn't get any Cwissmass pwesents, Mista?" The little boy and death have a conversation and the little boy gives death his tasseled hat. Death new that the grandpa was going to get hurt so he told the little boy ,''Your grandfather is going to go upstairs in a few minutes. He forgot one of the presents up there. You should help him with it, otherwise he may fall and hurt himself." Death leaves than after 13 years he comes back to the family but the grandpa is dead. The boy remembers death and he puts a note next to three embroidered mittens and in the note he writes ''To the man whom I gave my tasseled hat:
Thank you for the extra time with my Grandfather. Please take him home safely.'' When death reads that message he is with the Grandpa of the boy. I Found the part with the boy seeing death quit horrifying.

After reading this I have learned that people still remember thing even if the event had occurred a long time ago, or if the person past away.

The writing is using a Journal format as a writing style. In The story she is talking about how her husband is very controlling and he is a doctor. She is a woman that has a sickness and her husband treats her, and in he forbids her to write and work , he wants her to rest. This is the woman's secret diary. In the diary she talks about the house and how she does not like the wall paper in her bedrooms she calls it “revolting.” The woman also talks about how there is Ghost, and she finds it scary. The story is mostly about her life. how her husband controls her, the problems she has and her inspecting the yellow wall paper that she dislikes. The woman changes her story a lot, because one minute she is talking about her feelings and the other minute she is back talking about the wall paper, that shows it is a Journal. She is writing her story in third person limited, the writer writes the story in 3rd person but describes the feelings and thoughts of the woman. For example in the story the writer writes '
'' fact is I am getting a little afraid of John'', that is only her feelings and her toughs. In the story the woman writes a lot about her feelings, another example is ''John does not know how much I really suffer. He knows there is no REASON to suffer, and that satisfies him.'' That is another taught.

Three Questions- Leo Tolstoy
Genre: Fantasy
Q5: Describe the main characters. How is she/he like or unlike you? How interesting is she/he to read about?
The main character is the king he wants to always be correct, like doing things at right time, listening to the correct people. He never wants to be doing something wrong. He asks questions to other people, he does not want to figure things out on his own he needs to have an answer from someone else. I fond quit interesting because sometimes i am also like that, I would want to be correct, therefore I ask many people questions because I expect them to have the right answer and the king was exactly like that in the story.

The elements that are used in this fantasy is the medieval universe.
The way people interact through this short story, is that people rely on other people, and do not think for them self sometimes.

The horrifying part is when Christine's adoptive mother find out that the imaginary friend of her child is her brother, and that he past away and is a ghost. The only way he is going to disappear is when he gets his sister Christine. Another horrifying part is when she comes running to the school asking for her child and they say that ''her brother called for her. the mother just found out that he is a ghost and the only way he would leave is when gets his sister back. The mom runs home looking for her child and can not find her. In the end they do not know where she is, and the police is looking for her. The only people that know the story is the mother and the woman who saw the brother die. That scared me a lot, and I already hate horror movies, therefore this was quit scary.

This novel is non fiction that means it's a true story. Fauziya Kassindja has put her personal life in to this novel by talking about her religion, family, traditions in her home country and the way she lived. Fauziya Kassindja was islamic and is from Tongo, she is the youngest out of the family. The reason she fled to America was because her dad passed away and her Aunt got her a husband and before she gets married she has to go under female circumcision. On trying to flee the country she is caught at the immigration country and is arrested and put in jail. She has been in Jail for quit a while and she has given up hope. She became friends with a law student Layli Miller Bashir, and she is trying to get her out. During the case she wanted to go back home. The case they even mentioned the tradition of woman circumcision, and that it's not right, in the end after all that fighting they won the case. She tells in the end that the people in her tribe are good people but people do bad things, and that if something is tradition does not make it right.

This novel is about how a girl gets missing and her sister is looking for her, but the police finds her dead. The police is sure it's her because they found her school card.Her sister does not believe that her sister is dead therefore she starts looking for her and interrogating people she was in contact with. She is also interrogating people because she does not know why she go killed. My prediction for this book is that the sister finds her sister and the police turns out to be wrong. The reason I think that the sister finds out that her sister is alive because she is finding out more secrets about her sister. Another prediction is that she actually is dead but they find out more about the sis and she turns out to be a different person they taught she was. During that process they also find out the reason she was killed. These are my predictions for this novel.

Q6: What ideas or issues are explored? What is your opinion about the issues?
The Article is about that children from 12-15 in the UK prefer internet or mobile over television. They got this result by making a survey. In the article it does not tell exactly what the issue is but because of all the data saying how much the internet, mobiles, and television are used in the UK. I think that the issue is that children are getting more addicted to social network. I agree with this issue because of the way the article was being discussed and the results of t how many people preferred mobiles and the internet over television. Another reason is that I even prefer the Internet or mobile over television and in my house the t.v. is hardly ever put on. I am most of the time on the internet because you have everything on the internet you can watch movies, talk to friends, play games, read books, homework etc. The mobile you can text , call friends, play games, listen to music and go on the internet. You can multi task on mobile phones and the internet but television you can only watch television. The reason All of this is happening is because Technology is increasing. I think that being addicted to social network is that you study less, and you can become fat because you do not do exercise. But it's also a good thing because you become better with technology and that will be good for later on.

This poem is about That There is so much in the world you have to do and sometimes it gets to much that you just want it to go away. Whenever you fall asleep it seems like it's al gone because you start to dream of to your own little paradise, where there is no problems and drama. I can connect with that because sometimes, I just have so much work, so much drama and it is getting to hectic that when I g to bed I just dream that I am in my own world , and that there are no problems in that world and I can just relax.

The Necklace-Guy Maupassant
Q12: What is the exciting or horrifying or sad or funny part of what you have read??
The sad/ Funny part about this Short story is, that there is a woman named ''Mathilde an she is very snobbish. She Has a rich Husband named Loisel. Mathilde was invited to a event. She wanted to look perfect, but she had nothing to wear, as a solution she asked her husband for money to buy a expensive gown. He did not mined a gave her the money. she bought the dress. She did not have any necklaces, and her husband was not going to give her the money for the necklace therefore she went to borrow one from her friend Madame Jeanne Forestier. The necklace is very expensive. She goes to the party and everyone loves her outfit. When she gets home the necklace is gone.She was looking everywhere for the necklace. To buy her self some time she told her friend that it was getting repaired because it broke. Her Husband and her couldn't Find The necklace, so they started looking for a store that had that necklace, they found one but the necklace was really expensive, it cost 36,000 francs. Therefore her husband used all of his savings and borrowed money from people. The Couple fired the maid. Mathilde has to do all the chores at home. After 10 years they had payed all there depth. Mathilde Looks older than she is, she has dried fingers,skin etc. She went to her friend one day who she borrowed the necklace from and told her the story, and she said “Oh, my poor Mathilde. But mine was false. At most, it was worth five hundred francs!”
I found that so funny, but also sad, because all that pain she went through was for nothing.

Reading profile
Here again :D
I love reading Different genres of books, but my favorite genre is teen drama and books that have the do with social issues. I don't really read books in my spare times, unless I have started with a book and I really want to know how it ends. I am one of those readers when I start something I have to finish it. I love reading books that are in a series because it continues the story. When I read books in a series I read more because I want to know how the other books are written. My favorite series is the Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyer. I don't really have a favorite writer but if I had to choose I will pick Stephanie Meyer. My reading goals for this year is to read more books so that I can increase my vocabulary.

Before I start blogging i would like to tell a bit more about myself. Starting of my name is Lysienne, I am born in holland but originally from Ghana. I like to play soccer, tennis and touch rugby. In my spare time I like to read, hang out with friends or Go shopping. I like to read books that have to do with teenage drama because sometimes I can relate to the stories,and I find them really interesting.I also like to read magazines. I don't only read Books of one Genre I read different types of books so I don't really have a favorite author. Now you know a little more about me!
